Onwards and Downwards

Well despite the badness of the birthday I still managed to lose 3 1/2lbs this week so I'm chuffed. Of course I expect next week to be a riser to make up for the badness (plus I'm still eating the birthday chocolate along with some gingerbread men that I found in the back of the cupboard), but at least I'm on the right track. Onwards and downwards!

Hoping to have a go at a few of the new recipes in Bee's book, especially the various different breakfast muffins as I'm having trouble finding low carb sausages. Will report back when I've tried such delights as butternut, brie and sage muffins and aubergine, spinach and feta pie.

Bit of a Wobble

Yep that's me today. Having a bit of a wobble.

All was going well until last night when there was a power cut right in the middle of cooking my dinner. The surprise of the lights going out made me drop my ultra sharp filleting knife on my little toe, almost severing it. I'm sure it was a funny sight watching me trying to stop the pain and the blood in the pitch dark whilst simultaneously trying to get the candles lit. Of course there was no sign of the power coming back, so I ended up with a mini pack of ham as it was the only thing available to eat without cooking.

Unfortunately, lack of power meant no ability to make my breakfast and lunch for today so I ended up with a banana for breakfast and a prawn baguette for lunch (along with a caramel shortbread that somehow slipped in). Dinner has been OK with faux shepherd's pie and rocket and parmesan salad, but to be honest I'm feeling slightly off piste with my birthday tomorrow anyway.

A visit to the cinema wouldn't be right without a Ben and Jerry's (and I will be having one) and then we're having a meal in the evening, so not likely to be awfully good there either.

On the bright side my jeans are back to pre-Christmas looseness so what I have been doing has had some effect. I know I'm in it for the long haul - no quick loss diet for me so a few slips here and there are going to be expected. I just need to make sure I get back on track after the birthday chocolates (yep I was bought more chocolate as a present - and lovely Carluccio dark ones - thanks Kev and Sandra) have been eaten.

IPD Cookbook

So Bee’s recipe book (and the paper back pink bible) turned up on Saturday monring. I have to admit that at first glance I was a little disappointed with it. I have tried several of Bee’s recipes from the forum (her chilli bake is still one of my favourite dishes ever!) and of course expected to see them in the book. However, I hadn’t expected to see all the recipes from the pink bible as well (this means I now have them 3 times). This meant there were far fewer new recipes than I’d anticipated. On the bright side I suppose it’s good to have all the recipes in one place and it did keep me occupied at the pub for a couple of hours tabbing up the pages.

Will report back on the new recipes when I've given them a try.

Week 1 Done

OK so week 1 is over. Unfortunately not quite as hardcore as I was hoping for due to a meal out, 3 beers on Saturday night, Christmas chocolate and a slip last night with a baguette for my tea, but pleased to announce that I've lost 5lbs - definitely a good start to the year!

Shopped last night for lots of good stuff so I'm certainly hoping to stick rigidly this week. Just need to find time to do all the cooking involved.

I treated myself to Bee's cookbook today and a paperback copy of the pink bible as they were on special offer at Amazon so looking forward to trying out some new recipes soon. Although I love them I am getting a little fed up with the faux shepherd's pie and chilli bake!

One thing I need to work on though is getting back into the exercise. Whilst I swore faithfully to go back on the xl-glider and use the toning belt in fact I didn't actually do either, nor did I dig out the pedometer. That's this week's goal, to get back on track with the exercise.

And then I need to find the tape measure!

Cooking

I've just remembered that Bee's fabby IPD cookbook is out. In the lead up to Christmas I'd forgotten all about it.

Must get onto Amazon and order a copy. I could do with a paperback version of the Pink Bible too - the hardback is great but too big to lug around with me.

Oh Look ...It's a New Year!

So it's the start of another new year and I have to admit that the eating plan went somewhat to pot over the last two months.

I have eaten everything, drunk loads and generally overindulged in every way.

But no more!

Starting Tuesday (I have to go shopping on Monday night) I will be starting back on the hardcore section of the Pink Bible. I will also be back on the x-glider and religiously using my slendertone belt too.

It worked before and I'm sure it can work again. Onwards and inwards.

Now where did I put my pedometer?
